How We Help
In-Home Speech Therapy
Speech therapy will help your child express themselves and authentically communicate with others. We love supporting children in their natural environment, where we will focus on functional words and phrases that you use at home every day.
Nature-Based Speech Therapy
Nature-based speech therapy embeds your child’s speech or language work into outdoor play. Whether we’re going on a leaf hunt, reading a seasonal book, or playing “house” in a stick fort, time in nature promotes wellbeing and connection.
Virtual Parent Coaching
Parent coaching guides and empowers you to be your child’s best advocate. After coaching sessions, you will feel confident about helping your child thrive. Virtual auditory-verbal therapy is also available for families with children who are deaf/hard of hearing.

Erika R. King
MA, CCC-SLP, LSLS Cert AVT
Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist
Listening and Spoken Language Specialist
Hi, I’m Erika, a mom and a speech-language therapist who understands that the best learning stems from connection. My mission is to partner with families to help children reach their full potential.
I founded Talk in the Nest after more than 16 years of experience working with children and families in a variety of settings, including Early Intervention, Early Childhood Special Education and a pediatric outpatient clinic.
Throughout my career, I’ve been dedicated to supporting children with a wide range of communication needs— particularly children with language delays and children who are deaf or hard of hearing. My therapy approach combines research-based strategies with a sensitivity to the unique needs of every child I work with. As a lifelong learner, I integrate training in speech-language pathology, nature-based education, and trauma-informed practice to truly meet each child where they are.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children, exploring the great outdoors and growing vegetables in my garden. I look forward to learning about your family!

Talk in the Nest provides speech therapy for children in the comfort of their homes. We also offer nature-based speech therapy at outdoor spaces in and around Minneapolis.
Step One
Contact us for a free 20-minute telephone consultation. We will discuss any questions you may have and determine if an evaluation would be helpful for your child.
Step Two
Meet for the initial evaluation (60-90 minutes) to determine how your child will benefit from speech-language therapy. This will allow us to create an individualized treatment plan.
Step Three
Begin speech therapy sessions, where we will work toward your child’s goals. We will check in frequently about progress and determine when your child is ready to graduate from therapy.
Insurance & Billing
Talk in the Nest does not directly bill insurance. We do accept FSA/HSA cards and provide “superbills” that families can submit to their insurance. Visit our Frequently Asked Questions page to learn more.
